Additional Clinical Treatments
Microdermabrasion
Imagine a very fine sander and you’ll get a picture of how microdermabrasion works. It uses microparticles, or a diamond-tipped wand, to remove the top layer (epidermis) of your skin and stimulate new skin growth.
There are two kinds of microdermabrasion treatments. One approach involves a hand-held device that streams tiny crystals across your skin. An attached vacuum simultaneously suctions those exfoliating crystals back into the machine, along with the dead or loosened skin.
The newer approach uses a diamond-tip wand that is gently moved across your skin to exfoliate. This is the technique used at SPAaah during our microdermabrasion treatments.
Each treatment will last about a half hour. You may feel a mild scratching as the procedure removes the superficial skin cells. Additionally, you’ll notice a vibrating sensation akin to a massage. There is also a suction mechanism to lift off the dead skin.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is a transdermal delivery system in which a substance carrying a charge is delivered through the skin by a low electrical current. Think of it as an injection without a needle. Its application in skin care is being investigated for its potential to deliver large molecules that would otherwise not be absorbed into the skin.
Iontophoresis has been used in skin care to minimize wrinkles, eliminate pigment blemishes, soften scars and normalize skin.
Sonophoresis
Sonophoresis uses ultra sound and iontophoresis technology to introduce topical skincare through into the dermal layer, where our skin structures such as collagen, elastin, capillary network, and the master fibroblast skin cells are found.
During the treatment, a small paddle is passed over the skin and the sound waves gently infuse a mix of products into the skin. The treatment temporally increases your skins permeability which allows for higher absorption of active products for better, long lasting results.
